Frank and Glady, Two People in Love
This carving was commissioned to commemorate Frank and Glady’s 50th Anniversary.
This totem pole carving depicts two doves in the shape of a hart over the tree of life with the roots connecting all the families. The chainsaw carving took three days to make for Frank and Glady; there was an air of happiness between the two seeing what was once a dying tree be turned into a piece of art.
Cast Of Hawks
… or something like that.
Three days of carving, beautiful weather, great big tree and wonderful clients. Does it get any better than that?
They weren’t sure what they wanted, but had recently seen a hawk flying around the area and wondered if I could do something. This is what I came up with.
This is the focal point where they spend most of their free time.
This is the tree before I started working on it and is also the view point from the porch seat.
And this is what I came up with and what they get to see every day.

Great Horned Owl Totem Pole
Before and after shots of the Great Horned Owl Totem. This caving was 100% chainsaw, except for a little around the eyes on the Owl.
The totem pole was a power piece, it shows a green man in the leaves of nature. As an experesssion of his knowledge and thinking the Owl rests on his head. This totem pole is a symbol for knowledge and patience, the wood its self outlasting time and the owl representing the knowledge.

Old Mill Road, Red Tailed Hawk, Kitchener, Ontario
Willy and Sharon commissioned me to carve these three stumps for their property. A property I must say is quite the Shangri La for an in the city property. It was such a pleasure to be working in such beautiful place and such a great group of people. Over the weekend I carved the Red Tailed Hawk, a cute little bear and a Great Horned Owl/Totem pole. My style.
Here is the before and after shots of the Hawk.
Grey Silo – Waterloo Ontario
I was commissioned by the City of Waterloo to carve an Old Black Maple tree on the first hole on the Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo Ontario. The City had went to extraordinary measures to create an environmentally friendly Golf course, preserving the natural settings as much as possible. Extensive consideration was given in designing specific features of the course to maintain environmental conditions to suit the local flora and fauna. Included in this consideration was the preservation of a rare, to this area, Black Maple tree. Unfortuantaly the effort and money spent to preserve this majestic tree was to no avail. A micro-storm blew through the area and decapitated the majestic tree leaving the stump behind, about 30′ tall.

This is what I commissioned to carve. The task at hand was to come up with something that would reflect the intent of the Golf Course. My interpretation was a story pole depicting some of the local Flora fauna. Here is my interpretation.
Sometimes, it appears however, the the universe has some grand design of it’s own. On the evening of the day the City accepted and signed off on the completion of the project, another micro storm blew through the Golf course. The storm lifted the scaffolding and dumped the structure on top of the carving a took out the top section of the carving including the Red Tailed Hawk, leaving the tree once again decapitated.
Amazing.
Dragon Wars
Here is one of my favorite carvings called Dragon War. IT was a grand Willow tree located on Schneider Road near Baden, Ontario. This was a blast to carve as it is one of my favorite subjects Dragons and Gargoyles. The tree stands about 20 foot tall and is 100% done with Chainsaw. This is the tree after it was topped and left for a few months.
Natures Hug
My first full bear, eagle, nest, tree! and the biggest carving yet. This old Maple tree stump is almost 20 foot tall. The carving is located just west of Plattsville, Ontario on Blandford Road.
